NOTICE OF VACANCY
Position Title: Lifeguard (Athletics)
Brief Description: The Ithaca City School District is seeking a responsible, attentive, and dependable Lifeguard to help provide a safe and welcoming environment for students and community members using our aquatic facilities.
Location(s): Athletics
Anticipated Start Date: 9/28/2026
Posting Dates: 9/11/2026- Until Filled
Number of Vacancies: 2
Position Responsibilities:
- Supervise pool activities and maintain constant awareness of swimmers and the surrounding pool area.
- Enforce all pool safety rules, regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and provide first aid/CPR as needed.
- Perform routine safety checks of the pool and surrounding areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized aquatic environment.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, staff, families, and community members.
- Complete required pool safety and incident documentation.
- Work cooperatively with other lifeguards, coaches, instructors, and district staff.
Qualifications:
- Current Lifeguard certification required.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
- Ability to successfully complete all required district and/or facility training.
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to respond effectively in an emergency.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods.
- Experience working with children or in a school/community aquatic setting preferred.
Work Schedule:
Schedule and hours will vary based on district programming, pool availability, and facility needs
