NOTICE OF VACANCY
Position Title: School Psychologist Intern
Ithaca City School District is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic School Psychologist Interns to join our team for the 2026-27 academic year. This paid internship offers comprehensive, hands-on experience in a supportive and diverse public school setting, providing an excellent opportunity to fulfill requirements for professional certification. Interns will work under the direct supervision of a certified and experienced School Psychologist and will be responsible for a range of activities, including:
Assessment and Evaluation
? Conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, including cognitive, academic, and social-emotional assessments, as part of initial evaluations and re-evaluations for students referred to the Committee on Special Education (CSE).
? Selecting, administering, scoring, and interpreting a variety of norm-referenced and curriculum-based assessment measures.
? Writing comprehensive, legally defensible, and user-friendly evaluation reports that integrate assessment data, observations, interviews, and record reviews.
? Participating in CSE and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to present evaluation results and contribute to eligibility and service decisions.
Intervention and Counseling
? Providing individual and group counseling services to students addressing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
? Developing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of academic and behavioral interventions using a Response to Intervention (RtI) or Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
? Consulting with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding effective classroom management strategies, learning accommodations, and behavior support plans.
Collaboration and Consultation
? Serving as a member of building-level teams (e.g., Student Support Teams, RtI Teams) to review student progress and problem-solve barriers to learning.
? Collaborating with parents/guardians to enhance home-school communication and promote student success.
? Consulting with school staff regarding child development, learning processes, and evidence-based practices.
? Participating in professional development and supervision meetings as required by the district and the university program.

Required Qualifications:

? Current enrollment in a specialist-level (e.g., M.A./CAGS) or doctoral-level School Psychology program accredited by NASP or the APA.
? Successful completion of all required didactic coursework prior to the start date of the internship.
? Proof of internship eligibility from the university program coordinator.
? Ability to secure New York State fingerprint clearance upon offer of employment.
