Position Title: Dance Teacher (Fine & Performing Arts)
Brief Description: We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and community-minded Dance Instructors to teach in our secondary school extracurricular dance program. This initiative is designed to foster self-expression, physical wellness, and community building across diverse student bodies. Instructors will teach foundational technique, choreography, and historical/cultural context across a wide variety of dance genres, culminating in a district-wide spring showcase.

Anticipated Start Date: 11/23/2026- 5/6/2027

Number of Vacancies: 2
Hours: up to 100 for entire assignment
Key Responsibilities
-
Instruction & Choreography: Plan and facilitate dynamic, inclusive twice-weekly rehearsals after school tailored to secondary students of varying skill levels.
- Cultural & Artistic Diversity: Expose students to foundational techniques, history, and rhythms across one or more dance styles (e.g., Majorette, Kick Line, Jazz, Modern, Pan-African, Capoeira, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Rumba).

Showcase Preparation: Create and polish original choreography for the end-of-year combined performance.

Student & Community Engagement: Maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, mutual respect and student leadership

Production Support: Attend all scheduled dress rehearsals and manage student groups during backstage/on-stage run-throughs and the final recital.
Program Schedule & Commitment
- Session 1 (10 Weeks): November 30 – February 12 (Rehearsals 2x per week)
- Session 2 (9 Weeks): February 22 – April 30 (Rehearsals 2x per week)
- Dress Rehearsals: May 3, May 4, & May 5
- Final Combined Recital: May 6
Required Qualifications:

Strong background in dance performance, instruction, or choreography in one or more specified genres.

Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire, and manage secondary school youth

Commitment to promoting inclusivity, cultural appreciation, and creative expression.

Reliable attendance and ability to commit to the full schedule across both sessions and performance dates.
