Position Title: Piano Accompanist

Brief Description: Ithaca City School District is a vibrant community dedicated to nurturing emerging performing artists. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated rehearsal pianist to accompany upcoming musical theater rehearsals and productions. We aim to inspire middle and high school students through engaging musical experiences.

Job Summary: The accompanist will play a pivotal role in supporting our musical theater program by providing live piano accompaniment during rehearsals and performances. This position requires not only advanced musical skills but also the ability to collaborate effectively with directors, choreographers, and student performers. A passion for working with young artists and fostering their creativity is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities: Provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, ensuring fidelity to the score and facilitating smooth transitions between scenes and musical numbers. - Collaborate closely with the creative team, including the musical director, director, and choreographer, to interpret and enhance the musical vision of the production. - Assist in musical coaching for students, offering constructive feedback and support to help them develop their vocal and performance skills. - Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inclusive atmosphere during rehearsals, catering to the diverse needs and skill levels of middle and high school students. - Attend all scheduled rehearsals, tech weeks, and performances as required, and be prepared for any additional coaching sessions.

Position Title: High School Orchestra Director

Brief Description:  The Ithaca City School District is seeking a dynamic music educator to teach and direct the IHS orchestras. The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate exceptional musical skills in teaching and performing a primary and secondary instrument in violin, viola, cello, and bass. They will possess enthusiasm for teaching in both small group, ensemble and large orchestra settings, coupled with a genuine passion for working with high school students. As the Director of the Ithaca High School orchestras, the individual will play a pivotal role in guiding intermediate and advanced musicians in grades 9 through 12 in two separate orchestras and also teach music theory one and two. The Director will foster the development of student musical identities through skill development, knowledge, and overall musicianship. Furthermore, the educator will cultivate an awareness of the students' roles within the broader orchestral community, promoting an inclusive, collaborative, and welcoming environment that enriches the overall music program.

Brief Description: Join our early childhood education team to provide speech-language services in an inclusive classroom/community setting. Provide direct therapy and consultation services to a variety of preschool students, including those who use augmentative and alternative communication aids and devices.  Other duties include but are not limited to CPSE (Committee on Preschool Special Education) documentation, IEP development and collaboration with building leaders, educators, staff and families.  Ideal candidates will show experience with diverse cultures, anti-racist approaches to the particular work of a Speech Therapist and a commitment to strength-based practices and strategies.

Brief Description: Provide Special Education Services to Secondary School Students , 6-12 grade students with a range of disabilities in an inclusive setting.  Duties include, but are not limited to, IEP Development, co-planning & co-teaching, participating in PLC and grade-level, team PLC meetings.  Collaborating with classroom teachers and therapists and communicating with families.  Experience with AAC Devices an asset.
