Position Title: Physical Education Teacher (PE) - Long Term Substitute

Brief Description:  This position reports to the Building Principal and the Director of Physical Education and Health. The Physical Education Teacher will develop an exercise philosophy that strives to engage all students, support the New York State Health standards through engaging, informed, and timely instruction. ICSD supports the health education standards and the importance of health topics, physical and mental well-being.

Teacher Expectations

  • Help children develop physical abilities and healthy habits;
  • Organize games and challenges that promote physical activity.
  • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques;
  • Employs various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their physical activity goals;
  • Creates a positive learning experience.
  • Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures;|
  • Uses multiple communication methods that are tailored to and facilitate productive conversations with students;
  • Knowledge of instructional approaches for students' disabilities.  Must be driven, organized, and have the ability to manage students positively
  • Excellent attendance, works well with colleagues, and is a dedicated team player who is reliable.
  • Applies the critical thinking skills needed to adapt instructional practices to support student physical growth;
  • Always seeking new ways to teach students healthy routines and activities.

Position Title: Student Leadership Support [Extracurricular]

  • Empower student leadership in the day to day tasks of the production ?

  • Cast the show in collaboration with a casting committee composed of drama club staff mentors, fine arts director/or building leadership and creative team (separate hourly timesheet will be provided). 
  • Assist with the coordination of meals for students during tech week, attend to allergy needs and ensure food is properly labeled 
  • Assist with front of house preparation in collaboration with caregiver volunteers 
  • Assist with the assembly of the program in collaboration with caregiver and student volunteers

Brief Description: Design and implement an inclusive, anti-racist curriculum that aligns with the K-12 Social Studies Framework.

Required Qualifications:

  • All candidates must possess New York State Teacher Certification in Social Studies 7-12 or qualify to obtain it by the first date of employment. This requires at least a Bachelor’s degree. Licensed teachers from other states may qualify for reciprocity.
