Brief Description: DeWitt Middle School in Ithaca, NY is seeking a exceptional Mathematics teacher who can work collaboratively with a team and co-teacher to create inclusive anti-racist curriculum that aligns with the NYS Next Generation Math Standards. Pedagogical skills will need to emphasize differentiation and culturally responsive strategies.

Brief Description:               Provide instruction in technology class. 

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to apply culturally responsive teaching strategies to motivate and engage students from diverse backgrounds and range of interests.

  • Have a firm understanding of the engineering design process, modeling and prototyping in a multitude of materials; work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team.

  • Be able to problem solve individually and work as part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrate an ability to improvise and adapt to new conditions within the ever changing field of technology.

  • Familiar with a wide array of tools and machines as well as material processing, including but not limited to: CAD, CAM, CNC, 3D printing, welding, and laser cutting and engraving.

Position Title: 1.0 STEM Teaching Assistant

 

Brief Description: This position will provide support to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills that are integrated into our 8th grade science courses.  Our science courses include Physical Science and Earth Science, with some students preparing for the Earth Science Regents exam at the end of their 8th-grade year.  This will require collaboration with various teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and effective lessons that align with an anti-racist and culturally responsive pedagogy. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with STEM teachers to develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Assist in the implementation of accommodations and modifications for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or other educational plans.

  • Facilitate hands-on experiments, projects, and activities to promote students’ understanding and application of scientific concepts and principles.

  • Support students in developing problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills through inquiry-based learning and real-world applications.

  • Provide guidance and assistance in utilizing technology tools, software and resources related to STEM subjects.

  • Assist in the preparation and organization of lab materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure safe and efficient classroom operations.

  • Support students in their preparation for the Earth Science Regents exam, including review sessions, practice questions, and test-taking strategies.

Brief Description: This position will provide support to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students with varying

needs and abilities in mathematics. This will require collaboration with math

teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of engaging and effective math lessons

that align with an anti-racist and culturally responsive pedagogy. This position will

focus on 8th grade students in Math 8 or Algebra, ensuring they have a solid

foundation in the required content areas and are prepared for the New York State

Algebra Regents exam.

Key responsibilities include:

? Provide targeted intervention and remediation for struggling students, helping them

develop the necessary skills to succeed in mathematics.

? Monitor student progress and behavior, providing constructive feedback and
